My personal rants and raves...not to be confused with real butter.

Well, seeing as I wrote some of them, I'd better answer them.

1. What is your current occupation? Is this what you chose to be doing at this point in your life? Why or why not?

I'm a programmer/web developer (not a designer, as evidenced by this site). When I graduated from High School everyone told me I should go into 'computers' [sic]. Did I listen? Nooooooooooooo......I joined the Air Force (which led me, eventually, to programming anyway). I wanted to do anything but, not really knowing then what I know now (how much fun I'm having).

2. If time/talent/money were no object, what would your dream occupation be?

At home, coding in my underoos. Yes, really.

3. What did/do your parents do for a living? Has this had any influence on your career choices?

Dad was a carpenter, mom was an office manager. I think in an odd way there was some influence, I did a lot of things similar to what Mom did, when I was younger. I considered becoming a tradesman for a long time but never followed through on it.

4. Have you ever had to choose between having a career and having a family?

I think that having Chloe influenced a lot of what I did. I certainly didn't have to make a choice but I think I would have been a lot more adventurous in the .com days had she not been around. Am I sorry, NOPE.

5. In your opinion, what is the easiest job in the world? What is the hardest? Why?

I've read other people's replies to this and nobody seems to like it. I'll take full credit for this and let Candi off the hook, I wrote it. I think the easiest job in the world is the guy who puts the little pieced of pork fat in every can of Campbell's Pork and Beans. Hardest job in the world, without a doubt, is being a full time parent.

Anne says Sportstea so I'm giving it a try.

Brewed up a double-bag batch in my handy-dandy can't leave home without it big, honking Corningware soup mug. Now transferred to a mason jar with lots of ice. Smells like Red Zinger, tastes like.....Red Zinger with a touch of ginger. Let's wait and see how the buzz is.

1. Do you have a car? If so, what kind of car is it? I have a 2002 Saturn SL1, Bluesilver with a light gray interior. Just traded in my '99 Saturn SL so I'm moving up in the world. The SL1 has some nifty features that the SL didn't...wonderful new inventions like power steering and a CD player.

2. Do you drive very often? I love to drive. I'm a veteran road tripper and I'm always game for one. Stupid me continues to lease cars instead of buying them. Both of above are leases and I still owe about $320 in excess mileage charges on the SL.

3. What's your dream car? I'm really not a 'car guy' but I do have several dream cars. A '68 GTO, a new Xterra or a classic Vette (pre-1970s, I think the 'reclining woman (Stingray?) design is lame).

4. Have you ever received a ticket? Oh yeah. Some I just won't go into here. Mainly speeding tickets but I once got stopped by the youngest cop on the planet in Abbot New Mexico for going 5 miles over the speed limit on the most desolate straight stretch of road on the planet. That is probably the lamest ticket I've ever gotten. I once had an ex g/f talk a cop out of giving me a ticket for running a stopsign in Kemmerling, Colorado...that was fun.

5. Have you ever been in an accident? Nothing major, praise Allah.

1. What is your lineage? Where are your ancestors from?

I am, by turns, Irish, English, Welsh, Dutch and (so I've been told) about 1/10000000th Native American although that story is up for debate.

2. Of those countries, which would you most like to visit?

Ireland, which may happen in the next 6 to 12 months.

3. Which would you least like to visit? Why?

England. Been there, done that.

4. Do you do anything during the year to celebrate or recognize your heritage?

Does drinking on Bloomsday count? I think St. Patrick's Day is fun in the US but I hardly think it's a true reflection of Irish culture.

5. Who were the first ancestors to move to your present country (parents, grandparents, etc)?

Father's parents came from Ireland and England respectively. On my mother's side I think it goes back a generation or two farther than that.
