Fascinating article on why people are the way they are about money.

NOTAM: the shelves from two fridays ago are up...

Thoughts on the Drive

I was thinking this morning that you can trace the changes in your life by the music you listen to and, in turn, that the music we listen to when we're younger says 'here's what I'm going to do' and at some point (the early 30s, in my case) it switches to 'remember what we did'. The whole thing was kicked off by The Pretender's "Chain Gang". I'm rambling, it was a much more coherent thought when I was in the car.

Friday Five

  1. What cologne or perfume do you wear? None currently, any suggestions?
  2. What cologne or perfume do you like best on the opposite sex? Happy is nice, don't know too many others
  3. What one smell can you not stomach? Cigarettes
  4. What smell do you like that others might consider weird? Does the musty smell before it rains count?
  5. How do you plan to spend your weekend? Daddy weekend. Lil 'un's got some new snowshoes so that will probably play a part. Other than that we'll enjoy the nice weather, maybe a trip to the park (not quite a trip, it's less than a 2 minute walk.

Re: #5, below.

Saw the movie, didn't snowshoe, did spend money....a new DVD player, 3 movies and a new piece of Tupperware...yes, Tupperware. But, to my own defense, the DVD player may end up saving money in the future (if you're home watching movies you can't be at Dave and Busters blowing $20 an hour. The Tupperware will save money too, it's a Fridge Smart, to keep our salads from turning into a non-drinkable organic liquid. This isn't an ad for Tupperware, I'm just a believer. You may ask yourself "self, why does this man know so much about Tupperware?" Well, I used to be a consultant--you'd be surprised how many women will spend good money to watch a man do a demo and cook for them.

Friday Five

1. What do you have your browser start page set to? Google. Half the time I go to the computer, I have a specific question in mind.

2. What are your favorite news sites? Google News Headlines, MSNBC (a fallback to my Olympic Committee days) and [head hung in shame] Drudge Report.

3. Favorite search engine? Google, naturally.

4. When did you first get online? Wow. If online means the internet in any form them it'd be early. 1987, I was on Darpanet. I used to get Hanna-Barbera's email, they had a defense contract to do artwork for military simulators, or so I'm told.

5. How do you plan to spend your weekend? Iffy at the moment. Some of the possibilities include snowshoeing the Jenny Lind Gulch Trail, seeing Black Hawk Down, putting up some shelves, anything but spend money.
