My personal rants and raves...not to be confused with real butter.

I am often accused of being a wide-eyed dreamer, which is a very true statement. My friends and family will tell you stories about me making big plans for wild adventures from a very early age. I was always scheming to start a new business, build some wild, improbably thing. All of my plans were (are) half-assed of course. I've done more on the web than I ever expected, other than that it's pretty much been a hot-air affair.

I've been following OLN's coverage of the (mis)adventures of John Haslett, a sea-faring man with some really, really bad luck. This guy tried for years to sail a balsa raft from the west coast of South America to Hawaii to retrace a (purported?) trade route. He sunk 4 rafts in the process and never made it too far west. I'm not knocking him, he's certainly done much more than I ever have. Hopefully if I ever do attempt something even 1/2 as daring I won't have his luck.

L's Brother is a great fan of Chicken Fried Steak and eggs. Last weekend before Moulin Rouge, L and I stopped at Bread Winners in Arvada, expecting the menu to be in the range of Eggs Benedict and Foofy French Toast I was surprised one of the specials was, you guessed it, CFS&E. I chowed (or sowed), it was good, worth getting out of bed for. Of course there was a Foofy French Toast offering, Gran Marnier to be exact, but we avoided that.

Confucius Say: outside of a dog, a book is a man's best friend, inside a dog it's too dark to read Got a better one?

Jai Guru Deva Om....

It's the calm between the storms. My sister and family were here at the beginning of the week and my best friend from childhood (well, adolescence) is coming in two weeks. I love visitors, really I do--I just can't stand the preparation. Cleaning this place should take 20 minutes, it's a 2 bedroom, 2 bath...but it takes days. All that work was certainly worth it, we had a blast. I picked up Chloe Monday after work, we spent all day with my sister, brother-in-law and their two kids, then on Wednesday morning I took Chloe home and went back to work. The family has moved on to more wide-open spaces, Salt Lake City, Jackson Hole, Yellowstone, then a trip back through the black hills, Wisconsin Dells and home to Ohio. Lemme know who else wants to visit the Mile High City, I've got a guidebook all ready to go...seriously, I should put it online.

If I was somehow, even innocently, connected with the disappearance of a member of a prominent family what do you think the chances of the police asking to "schedule a meeting" vs "dragging me out of my apartment by my pinkies" would be?

I was going to write about apathy but I haven't got the energy.

It's hard to blog. Others may say it's easy but it isn't. I made dinner, we watched Billy Elliott, now I'm trying to write and the words don't come out. I want to write pithy things like Meg but the words just aren't there. I had some grand thoughts this morning...but they're lost in the commute (1/2 hour to 40 minutes in, 40 minutes to an hour home--yes, it sucks). The apartment is in tatters, I get home and just want to veg. Two months off spoiled me for working, that's for sure. The job is going ok, as jobs go. They're very slow to get thing set up (passwords, necessary DB access, etc.) but all in all it's a pretty together place, the process is pretty tight at least. The people are nice, not as community-ish as I"m used to but I'll work on them.
